Tim Jitloff withstood a charge by junior competitor Tommy Ford to win the national giant slalom title Tuesday at the U.S. Alpine Championships. Jitloff led after the first run down the sun-splashed Narrow Gauge trail at Sugarloaf, and then held off Ford in the second run. Jitloff also finished third in the slalom and second in the combined at the championships.

England manager Fabio Capello has confirmed that David Beckham will win his 100th international cap against France on Wednesday. The former captain missed Capello's first match as coach against Switzerland last month due to concerns over the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder's sharpness. But he has been recalled for the friendly with France in Paris and is set to become the fifth player to reach a century of appearances for England.

Former world champions Zab Judah and Shane Mosley will face off on May 31 in Las Vegas with the hope of facing either of the unbeaten welterweight champions Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto.
